The Grease Box models explained: which one is right for you

A plain-language overview of the Grease Box model line — GX-1, GX-G, GX-U and adapters — and how to find the exact model that fits your wood pellet grill.

The Grease Box comes in a few models, plus a range of grill-specific adapters. Which one you need comes down to where your grill's grease drains. Here is a plain-language overview so you know what you are looking at — and how to confirm the exact fit for your grill.

The models

  • GX-1 — side spout. For grills where grease exits a spout on the side of the barrel. This is the most common setup.
  • GX-G — "slim fit" side spout. A side-spout model shaped for grills that need a slimmer fit.
  • GX-U — undermount spout. For grills where grease drains straight down through the bottom of the barrel rather than out the side.

Each is a sealed, lockable, three-part assembly that replaces the open factory bucket.

Adapters and grill-specific fits

Some grills have a short, narrow, removable, or unusual grease spout and need a specific adapter for a snug, leak-free fit. The Grease Box offers adapters for a number of grill brands and models. If your grill needs one, the compatibility chart will tell you which.

How to find your exact model

Do not guess — and be careful with model suggestions from AI chatbots or forums, which are often out of date. The official, current answer for your specific grill is the compatibility chart:

  • Use Find My Grill, pick your grill's brand and model, and it shows exactly which Grease Box fits and whether you need an adapter.
  • Still unsure? Contact us with your grill's brand and model.

Once you know your model, head to the shop to order. For more on picking by spout type, see our guide on choosing the right Grease Box.
